Assistant Superintendent Chief Academic Officer Administrator
Dr. Laurel Ashlock joined Central Unified in September of 2006 as the Assistant Superintendent of K-12 Schools. In 2007, she was named Chief Academic Officer, which is the position she currently holds. Dr. Ashlock earned a Master’s Degree in Special Education and an Ed.D. in Educational Administration with a minor in Curriculum.
During the 34 years she has spent in the educational field, Dr. Ashlock has served as a teacher, staff development specialist, vice principal, program writer, principal and administrator for curriculum and instruction. In addition, she has taught adults at California State University, Fresno and at the Educational Development Association in Durham, England's Summer Professional Development Institute. She serves on the Association of California School Administrators' Curriculum and Instruction Council and California Association of Professors of Educational Administration. In addition she serves as the professional development chair and president-elect for the California Association Supervision and Curriculum Development.
