Assistant Superintendent, Chief Business Officer, Executive Services Department
Steve McClain joins Central Unified School District in December 2019. Steve has been the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services since 2008 at the largest elementary school district in California: Bakersfield City School District. His background includes private sector experience in the agriculture industry, followed by 23 years of school district and county office business experience. Steve has been involved in passing two school bond measures and overseeing the construction of three new schools and eight school modernizations. He is a CASBO-Certified Chief Business Official, a Certified Public Accountant, and received the West Kern ACSA Business Services Administrator of the Year award in 2018. Steve and his wife, Becci, who is a kindergarten teacher, recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary and have four adult children.
