Summaries of the New High School Transition Meetings
Summary of the 3-12-20 Meeting
The committee met for the last time on 3-12-20 to make a list of the pros and cons of the various options. If removing the financial costs from the picture, the committee is in favor of having 3 separate high schools with separate CDS codes. A fourth option was discussed which is having a new high school, East Campus and the West Ag Center (no comprehensive program at West).
Summary of 11-14-19 Meeting
The New High School Transition Committee met for the 3rd time on 11-14-19 and looked at the results of the latest demographic studies. Discussions took place about projected growth in the district with the new housing developments. The committee discussed the idea of making Central High's West campus into a magnet school as well as the boundary process. The next meeting is scheduled for March 2020.
Summary of 9-26-19 Meeting
The New High School Transition Committee had its second meeting on 9-26-19. Members took a look at the website where information on the committee is being posted. The group worked on a jigsaw Q&A activity and returned to their table groups to discuss what was learned in the focus group. Members completed a survey to prioritize the 3 school configurations if finances aren't a consideration. The committee discussed the results. There were two recommended options: 3 comprehensive high schools or two comprehensive high schools. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 14, 2019.
