Gifted and Talented Education Programs

Central Unified School District is dedicated to ensuring that gifted and advanced learners are recognized and subsequently served through systematic programming.  Gifted and Talented students need differentiated educational programs and services beyond those normally provided by the regular school program in order to realize their ability to contribute to self and society.  Our goal is to identify gifted and talented students, including those from diverse racial, socioeconomic, linguistic, and cultural backgrounds, and provide quality differentiated opportunities for learning that meet students' unique abilities.
Important Information During Distance Learning

GATE Cluster Teachers, Supplemental Enrichment Teachers, District Office Staff and Site GATE Coordinators continue to support teachers, students and families remotely during distance learning.  Below, please find information about programs, updates regarding GATE testing, and more information about distance learning. If you have additional question, please feel free to contact us.  Thank you for your flexibility and understanding during this challenging time.
GATE TESTING AND IDENTIFICATION PROCESS

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all GATE testing and the identification process is suspended until schools reopen and when it is determined that students can be tested safely in person per public health and safety guidelines.  Although testing is "on hold," schools are encouraged to continue to search for students who demonstrate potential and make referrals during school closures for the 2020-2021 school year.  Referral timeline and testing changes coming soon.
