Central Unified School District recognizes the important role visual and performing arts play in providing our students a well-rounded education. The arts - dance, music,theater, and visual arts - are a critical part of every child's education. Research has shown that arts education not only enhances student achievement, but also improves emotional intelligence necessary in life: self-awareness, empathy, self-regulation, and internal motivation. It is no surprise that education in the visual and performing arts is recognized as a key component in developing 21st century job skills, and Central promotes this at every grade level!
 

VAPA Events

Feb. 23rd: CH Jazz Band performs at 8:55 am in the 31st Annual San Joaquin Valley Jazz Festival at the Paul Shaghoian Concert Hall; CH Percussion Ensemble participates in the South Valley Winter Arts Association’s percussion competition at Sierra Pacific HS in Hanford at 2:55 pm.

Feb. 27th: Central High’s spring musical, Aida, opens Feb. 27th. Show dates are February 27, 28, March 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, and 9 at 7:00 pm. Tickets will be available at the door.

March 1st: El Capitan and Glacier Point Middle Schools participate in a San Joaquin Valley Winter Guard, Percussion competition at Clovis East High. Performance times are: El Capitan MS 4:29 pm and Glacier Point MS at 4:53 pm.
